Worden wy dan door een verbeelding der natuur misleid, hoe veel te grooter achten wy den Konstenaar niet die zulks te weeg gebracht heeft? […] Dit aldus zynde, zo moeten wy ook trachten de natuur en de waarschynlykheid op te volgen, en vooral op de regelen der Perspective Optique acht […]Hier uit volgt, dat de laage oog- en zichtpunten, of horizont, de beste en natuurlykste in een Conterfeitsel zyn, die het meest de zinnen zullen bedriegen en misleiden, wanneer het licht en de afstand, volgens de eigenschap der plaats daar men het stellen wil, wel waargenomen zyn. Doet men zulks niet, zo zal men ook een strydige uitwerking zien met die welke men daar van verwagt heeft.
